Requirements

To be considered eligible for application to the Wichita Falls Family Practice Residency Program the applicant must meet the academic criteria established by the North Central Texas Medical Foundation and the Wichita Falls Family Practice Residency Program. Preference will be made for recent graduates.

Academic Criteria - Eligibility criteria of ACGME
Applicants with one of the following qualifications are eligible for appointment to accredited residency programs.

  1. Graduates of medical schools in the US and Canada accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).
  2. Graduates of medical schools in the US and Canada accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
  3. Graduates of medical schools outside the US and Canada who meet one of the following qualifications and have US citizenship or permanent resident status (green card) prior to application:
  • Have received a currently valid certificate from the Educational Commission or Foreign Medical Graduates and Clinical Skills Assessment (CSA); or
  • Have a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a US licensing jurisdiction.
  • US citizen graduates from medical schools outside the US and Canada licensing jurisdiction qualify under the above, but who have successfully completed the licensure examination in a US jurisdiction in which the law or regulations provide that a full and unrestricted license to practice will be granted without further examination after successful completion of a specified period of medical education.

Criteria

Criteria for the Wichita Falls Family Practice Residency Program
  1. Must be a US citizen or be a Permanent Resident of the US
  2. Our program does not sponsor visa’s of any type
  3. There is no score requirement, but no more than 4 attempts combined for Steps I & II 
  4. Must have some US clinical experience
  5. Two of your letters of recommendation must be from US
  6. Must apply through ERAS
  7. Preference will be made for recent graduates.

Application

The Wichita Falls Family Practice Residency Program participates in the National Resident Matching Program and abides by its regulations in the recruitment and selection of applicants.  Each applicant must provide the following information to be considered:

  1. A completed NRMP application form through ERAS
  2. Deans Letter
  3. Final transcript of grades from medical school
  4. Diploma from medical school
  5. Competitive scores from USMLE Parts I and II (scores from each attempt must be submitted), and Part III must be attempted as soon as applicable laws allow
  6. Three letters of reference (at least two letters from US practicing physicians for FMG’s)
  7. Personal Statement about your Interest in Family Medicine
  8. ECFMG Certificate and CSA
    Program Director’s letter if coming from another program
  9. Deadline for applications is November 15

Interview

The documents listed are what we require for an interview, but all are not obtainable through ERAS:

  1. Dean’s letter/certification
  2. Medical school diploma
  3. Medical school transcript (showing actual grades)
  4. Pre-medical school transcript plus (High School transcripts if you went directly from H.S. to Medical School)
  5. Three letters of recommendation
  6. Proof of ability to practice medicine in country of origin
  7. Valid E.C.F.M.G. certificate and USMLE scores
  8. Certificates recognizing prior post graduate medical education and recommendation from the Director of previous training
  9. Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Permanent U.S. Resident Visa Status
  10. Legal name change affidavit if applicable
  11. Current CV (Curriculum Vitae) stating what you have been doing since you graduated from medical school, every year must be accountable for.
